The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Food and Agriculture Scholars Program (TUFASP) recruits, mentors, and trains undergraduate students pursuing studies in food and agricultural sciences. The scholarship encourages outstanding students to pursue and complete baccalaureate degrees in food and agricultural sciences and related areas that will lead to a highlyskilled food and agricultural systems workforce.聽
The Anderson L. Griffin Agriculture Sciences Award- ($300)
This award is given to a student in the-Department of Agriculture and Environment Sciences, who聽 as demonstrated knowledge of food production and its importance in both the environmental and local context. The recipient must also have an appreciation of the importance of local agricultural production in the well-being of the local community. Faculty in the Department of Agriculture and Environment Sciences selects the recipient. Mr. Anderson L. Griffin, Class of 1988, is the award sponsor.
The William C. and Anita L. Lennard Award- ($150)
This award is given to a student in the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences who has a documented financial need and whose record of leadership and service in the College is exemplary.聽Rev. and Mrs. William C. and Anita Liggins Lennard are the donors.
The William L. Lester Memorial Endowed Scholarship- ($1000)
This award is given in memory of Dr. William L. Lester, Ph.D., former Provost and Vice颅 President for Academic聽聽 and Student Affairs, Tuskegee聽聽 University, who was also a mathematics faculty member and a strong advocate of excellent student scholarship. The scholarship is awarded on a yearly rotational basis to a Texas or Alabama resident who has a declared聽 major in mathematics,聽 computer聽 science,聽 environmental聽 science,聽 or elementary education; has a 3.0 or higher semester and cumulative GPA; has a sophomore or higher classification;聽 enrolled聽 in聽 and聽 completes聽 12聽 or聽 more聽 college聽 hours聽 per聽 semester聽 and maintains at least 3.00 GPA must be applied to tuition and/or room and board. His widow, Dr. Virda K. Lester, his daughters, Drs. Cynthia Lester Hobson and Adrienne Lester King, and other family and friends, give this scholarship through an endowed scholarship established in his memory after his untimely death in 2006.
The Reoda Turner Lennard Memorial Award- ($150)聽聽听听听听
This award is given in loving memory of Mrs. Reoda Turner Lennard, Class of 1952 Tuskegee Institute (now University). Mrs. Lennard taught in public and Rosenwald schools for over 39 years before her retirement.聽 She was very active and involved in religious, community and civic affairs. She and her husband, William B. Lennard, were personal friends of Dr. George Washington Carver. Rev. and Mrs. William C. and Anita Liggins Lennard, son and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Lennard, give this award in her memory to a student in the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences who has a documented financial need and whose record of leadership and service in the College is exemplary.
The L. A. Potts Memorial Award- ($100)
Mrs. Lanice P. Middleton gives this award annually to a student in the Department of Agriculture and Environment Sciences who has made the greatest academic improvement during three and one-half years of study at 91制品厂兔子先生视频官网. It is given in memory of her father, Mr. Lawrence A. Potts, who served as Dean of the School of Agriculture at 91制品厂兔子先生视频官网 from 1946-1962.
The Reuben A. and Gustine E. Munday Memorial Scholarship- ($500)
Reuben A. Munday, Esq. and Carol Munday Lawrence, the son and daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Reuben A. and Gustine E. Munday, give this scholarship to a promising student majoring in animal science in memory of their parents, who committed their professional lives to teaching students at Tuskegee Institute, now University. Must be used toward; tuition, room and board, books or other incidentals.
The Honorable J. Richmond Pearson Memorial FARMS Award-($250)
The Honorable J. Richmond Pearson of Birmingham, Alabama, was the first African颅 American Circuit Court Judge 91制品厂兔子先生视频官网 to the bench in Jefferson County, Alabama. As a young attorney, he was among the group to represent Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights protestors jailed for violating rules against demonstrations. During his life, Judge Pearson improved lives of the underserved, which is in alignment with FARMS mission to provide assistance to farmers of color. Family Agriculture Resource Management Services (FARMS), founded by Tuskegee alum, Jillian Hishaw, Esq., Class of 2002, a public service entity devoted to providing legal, marketing and youth education services to Black Belt counties in the Carolinas, sponsors this award. The recipient must be an agricultural sciences major, who is a first or second generation descent of a farm family in the Southeast. The recipient must also be a rising junior or senior in good standing, have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better, and a record of exemplary citizenship. The head and faculty of the Department of Agricultural Sciences selects the recipient.
The Dupont /Pioneer Scholarship (1000)
This award is given to a student(s) pursuing a degree in the college of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences with an emphasis in plant and soil sciences. Recipients should have demonstrated leaderships in the college and displayed an enthusiasm for plant and soil sciences and global food security. The Department of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences faculty select the recipient(s).
USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Service Scholarship 9,000
This award is given to students in the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition sciences who have demonstrated an interest in the area of Wildlife sciences. The recipients(s)must be enrolled in a degree program within the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and on track to complete coursework that meets the minimum curricular qualifications for eligibility as a (wildlife) biology technician. Recipients should have displayed an enthusiasm for the field of wildlife and demonstrated leadership in the department. The Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences faculty select the recipient(s).
The Windsor D. Ferguson Memorial STEM Award (1,000)
Established by Bishop Windsor Ferguson鈥檚 children in his honor and memory at their HBCU alma mater universities. Bishop Ferguson was a devoted husband, father , and minister. He served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir President, Trustee Board Member, general Secretary Treasurer, National Executive Board Member, Bishop鈥檚 Consel, and Paxtor of the National Church of God for finances he was unable to attend college. However, he encouraged his children to pursue their educational goals to exceed his limitations. Establishing these awards is a family tradition enabling his legacy to live on. These awards are for full time undergraduate STEM students who are Florida or Maryland residents. The family selects the recipient(s) based on outstanding leadership and academic success. Preference is to students with internship research assistant, or study abroad opportunity aligned with STEM career for the upcoming summer.
